Giorgio’s House in Palermo - we’ve finally arrived

Giorgios Meeting Point at Orleans Station

The trip to Palermo was quite nice. The flight was good and our luggage arrived as expected. From Palermo airport (PMO) it’s another 30km drive to Palermo. Giorgio told us to take the train (just downstairs in the arrival hall) to Palermo and get out at Orleans station, next to the Cappella Palatina, where he would pick us up. To be secure, not to miss our meeting point, he sent us the picture above :)

Giorgio is a really friendly guy, who loves travelling. Giorgio’s House opened it’s doors in early 2003 and was the first B&B in Palermo. It’s definitely a lovely place, a flat he owned from his grandfather with four nice rooms, a kitchen, two bathrooms, a balkony and kind of a living room, where he serves the breakfast every morning.
I told Giorgio that I want to climb the Etna on Sicily’s east coast (approx. 200km from Palermo) during our stay here and he immediately said to us, that he would like to do the trip with us on Saturday. Great!

The rest of the day we spent walking a little bit through the city. We went to the Cathedral an to the Mercato di BallarĂ², one of Palermos street markets.
Palermo has definitely a noisy and little bit chaotic street life, but it’s a really nice atmosphere here. I like it!
